Stephanie Gurr to Guest Lecture at University of Tampa on EPA Water Standards

September 18, 2024

On October 15, 2024, Stephanie Gurr, Senior Data Manager at VERTEX, will be delivering a guest lecture to environmental studies students at the University of Tampa. Gurr, a seasoned expert with over a decade of experience in environmental consulting and data management, will discuss how the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes standards to regulate contaminants in the water supply. Her lecture will focus on the far-reaching impact of these regulations on businesses, consumers, and environmental professionals alike. As someone who has worked across key industries such as oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, and power, Gurr brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. Her extensive experience in environmental data management—ranging from developing custom databases to advanced GIS applications—gives her unique insights into how data-driven decisions can be made to safeguard public health and manage risks associated with water contaminants.

The lecture is part of VERTEX’s broader commitment to fostering educational partnerships through our Lifetime of Learning Program, which aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industry expertise. Through initiatives like this, VERTEX continues to support the development of future environmental leaders while contributing to ongoing dialogues about sustainable practices and regulatory compliance. Gurr holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida and has played a pivotal role in projects involving data visualization and interpretation. This guest lecture provides a rare opportunity for students to engage with industry expertise at the intersection of environmental science and regulatory policy.
