VTX served as a consultant to the surety for a terminated principal on the completion of a Water Treatment Plant Pump Station located in Ontario, Canada. VERTEX’s services involved on-site monitoring, ratification of the mechanical and electrical subcontractors as well as coordinating the replacement of subtrades for the balance of work intended to be self-performed by the terminated principal. The remaining project work included mold remediation, civil site work, commissioning, and switch over from the old pumping station.
VTX worked with completion contractors to address numerous deficiency items, negotiate building code variations resulting from a multi-year delay that saw the building code change, revise the facility commissioning plan, and address the region’s revised go-live date due to infrastructure project changes.
Ultimately, VTX was able to negotiate credits, eliminate redundancies in the schedule (driven by a problematic consultant) and revamp the phasing to expedite the turnover to the owner. Extras were kept to a minimum while keeping the owner satisfied with the final product.
