VERTEX served as the surety’s on-site management for the completion of the $3.5M VA intensive care unit renovation construction project in Roseburg, Oregon. VERTEX came under contract in the middle of construction for the design/build project, replacing the original general contractor. The renovation included a complete slab-to-slab, non-structural demolition of all interior walls including cabinetry and casework, suspended acoustic tile ceilings, gypsum board, cement plaster ceilings, flooring, and any additional items down to the concrete deck. The renovated space includes: telemetry rooms to allow the nursing staff to continuously and remotely monitor each patient’s vital signs from a Patient Observation Station; isolation rooms; bariatric rooms patient rooms equipped with a new patient bedside unit and patient lift system; storage rooms; charting stations; waiting room; and office space.
VERTEX’s services included: subcontractor bid analysis, schedule development, submittal preparation, coordination of trades, RFI submittal, on-site supervision, closeout transmittal preparation such as operation and maintenance manuals, warranty documentation, as-built drawings, certifications, and commissioning reports. VERTEX’s services also included: change order request processing, payment application processing, and payment requisition processing. VERTEX also ensured all life/safety protocols were adhered to by all trades. Nearly 40 different trades, services, and suppliers were contracted to complete the scope of work.
