Mark Martin has over eleven years of environmental consulting experience including insurance claim investigation and management, environmental and indoor air quality (IAQ) assessment, and petroleum, asbestos, and mold remediation project oversight. At VERTEX, Mr. Martin’s role as a Senior Project Manager includes conducting cause and origin investigations, managing ongoing pollution insurance claims, reviewing remediation costs, and evaluating subrogation avenues. As a Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC), Mr. Martin has led numerous IAQ claim investigations including investigating mold, asbestos, lead dust, and solvent exposure insurance claims. Mr. Martin actively managed ongoing environmental claims with values up to $10 million USD including proposal and cost estimate evaluations, invoice reviews for reasonableness and necessity, and rate negotiations with contractors.
Mr. Martin’s work experience includes working as an industrial hygienist conducting inspections of residential and commercial buildings for mold, asbestos, lead, and other hazardous material disturbance and preparing recommendations and closeout documentation. Mr. Martin also served as a geologist on subsurface environmental investigations, soil and groundwater remediation projects, and environmental site assessments. He has performed management, technical expertise, and field duties on numerous retail and bulk petroleum hydrocarbon impacted facilities, and federal and state-mandated cleanup sites. His technical experience in the field includes oversight of soil borings and installation of wells and other environmentally-related sampling points by auger, direct push, and sonic drilling and the collection of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater samples.
